Anchor Text Linking
Anchor texts will take the reader to a different page within the site, or perhaps to an entirely different site when they are clicked on. As a webmaster, you can choose whether to have these open in the same window, or in a new window. As a rule of thumb, I prefer outgoing links to open in a new window, so that the reader remains on my site, while links to interior pages are fine opening in the same window.
An example of an outgoing link is seositepros.com, my web design page, or seolivehelp.com, which is my page to help people who want a fast, professional turnaround on their SEO content and placement.
There are some good rules to follow when creating anchor links. Although article marketing has transformed to some degree, you may still be using it. Whether you are placing links on outside sites, or within your site, to lead readers to a destination, it is important to link them correctly.
It will be tempting to always link the keyword you are trying to rank for, however that is not recommended. You will want to use approximately 40 percent of links for the specified keyword, 25 percent for “Click here” or “learn more”, etc., and the remainder should be secondary keywords or phrases (long-tail keywords).
To create an anchor text within your article, highlight the words you want to use for anchor text, and click on the chain link sign in the dashboard. Insert the hyperlink, and specify whether you want it to open in the same window or a new one, based on where it is leading.
